About Us Mission
TheDream.US is the nation’s largest college and career success program for undocumented immigrant youth, having provided more than 10,000 college scholarships to Dreamers attending 80+ partner colleges in 20+ states and Washington, DC. We believe everyone, regardless of where they were born, should have equitable access to a college education, a meaningful career, and opportunities to contribute to the communities they call home.
Who We Serve We believe Dreamers should fulfill their college dreams
At TheDream.US, we’re working to help 10,000 highly motivated Dreamers graduate from college with career-ready degrees. Dreamers are undocumented immigrant youth who came to this country at a very young age.
Despite the fact that this is the only country they have ever known—they’ll receive no federal aid to go to college, have limited access to state aid, and often face paying out-of-state tuition.
There are approximately 2 million Dreamers in the country. 98,000 undocumented students, ages 15 to 19, graduate from high school every year. However, only 5-10% enroll in college.
Undocumented students want to get a college education and help their families and communities prosper.
How We Work: Our Model
At TheDream.US, we work with a community of 80+ Partner Colleges to provide college opportunities.
Our approach is designed to scale and deliver relevant and sustainable impact. Our colleges are both community colleges and 4-year universities that are public and private. Our institutions are committed to supporting our Scholars through their college graduation. The college leaders are committed to addressing the barriers and challenges undocumented students face in getting into and through college.
Each of our Partner Colleges has an on-campus Scholar Advisor who builds meaningful relationships with our Scholars – individually and as a cohort – and assists our Scholars in successfully navigating their college journey and accessing any needed services.
FORGING A CONNECTED COMMUNITY OF DREAMER SCHOLARS
Our Scholars connect and support each other locally on campus as part of a national private online community. They – better than anyone else – understand each other’s journeys and what it takes to succeed. We provide career development, internship, and mentor opportunities, so they can grow together.
Advocacy We advocate for educational equity for all Dreamers
While our scholarships are generous, they will never be enough to meet the need. Thus, we use our voice and our Scholars’ successes to advocate for tuition and aid equity for all undocumented youth.
Learn MoreOur Work is Anchored in Data
TheDream.US is committed to rigorously evaluating our impact and evolving our work according to what our data tells us. Every Fall, we review the achievements of our Scholars and program partners from the previous academic year. Our annual Progress Report gives a detailed look at our Scholars’ academic and professional outcomes.
