National Conference Grants

We are currently accepting applications for the following National Conferences. If accepted, you will attend the conference with a group of TheDream.US Scholars.

  • ALPFA   (Application deadline is June 16, 2023)
  • SHPE (Application deadline is August 1, 2023)

National Education Association: Aspiring Educator Conference Grant (Now Closed)

Grant Deadline: Saturday, April 23rd, 2023 at 11:59 pm; PST

Conference Dates: Wednesday, June 28th – Saturday, July 1st, 2023

If you are interested in becoming a teacher, the National Education Association: Aspiring Educators Conference is a great opportunity for you to network with teaching professionals and leaders in the field of education. This is also a great opportunity for you to meet a group of other TheDream.US Scholars from across the country, and attend a national conference with your like minded peers. The conference is a great chance to network and build relationships with professionals in education.

 

TheDream.US will assist you with the following major expenses associated with attending or presenting at this conference:

  • Conference registration fee
  • Air/train fare
  • Up to 3-nights of lodging at the conference hotel

Conference Grants DO NOT COVER:

  • Local travel including to/from the airport or train station to conference site
  • Gas or tolls for car travel
  • Meals outside those included with the conference registration
  • Hotel and travel accommodations for local conferences

Qualification and Eligibility Requirements

You are eligible to apply if you meet all the following criteria:

  • NEA: Aspiring Educators require you are a member to attend this conference.
    • If you are not already a member, you can still apply for this grant, while in the process of
      applying for your membership here. Membership applications are managed state by state.  Some applications require you fill in a Social Security Number, if you do not have one, we have confirmed that you can enter 000-00-0000, in this field. Please note, you will have to have your membership completed by the time we need to register for the conference in May 2023, so you are encouraged to apply for your membership immediately.
  • Currently eligible for the Scholarship when you apply for the grant and when you attend the conference
  • Must submit grant application by Sunday April 23rd, 2023 at 11:59 PST
  • All Scholars, regardless of race/ethnicity, immigration status are welcome to apply
  • Conference must be directly related to your major/career of interest
  • Must have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher when you apply
  • Must have earned 30+ cumulative credits by the time you attend the conference
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Must have a LinkedIn Profile Account

If you need flights/train, and hotel accommodations:

  • Must have a valid photo ID (not expired) for hotel check-in
  • Must have a valid travel ID (not expired), if traveling by plane
  • Must arrive in Orlando, Florida, on Wednesday, June 28th and depart July 1st (a 3-night hotel stay – 2 Scholars to a room). Scholars are required to attend at least 2 full conference days: June 29th and June
    30th.

Please Note:

  • To ensure we are providing this opportunity to as many Scholars as possible, priority will be given to Scholars, whom did not already receive a Professional Conference Grant in the 2022 academic year.
  • Applications will be reviewed, and conference grants awarded while funds last.

Application Deadline and Approval Timeline

The application deadline is Sunday, April 23rd, 2023 at 11:59 pm PST.  Your application will be reviewed the
week of April 24th, 2023.  The final decision will be emailed to you by Monday, May 8th, 2023.

Complete the Online Application. As part of the online application, you will need to answer a short
essay question: “How will attending this conference contribute to your future career and/or
academic goals?” (no more than 2-3 short paragraphs).

2023 Pre-Health Dreamers’ Annual Conference Grant (Now Closed)

Grant Deadline: Monday, May 1st, 2023 at 11:59 pm; PST 

Conference Dates:  Wednesday, July 12th – Friday, July 14th, 2023

The 2023 Pre-Health Dreamer’s Annual Conference focuses on raising awareness around healthcare access and the undocumented and immigrant community. It is a great opportunity for you to network with other Dreamers interested in pre-health fields. If selected, you will be able to join a group of other TheDream.US Scholars from across the country, in attending this national conference for Dreamers whom want to become a part of the health field. The conference is a great chance to network and build relationships with aspiring health professionals.
