A Jubilant Time for DREAMers

Washington, DC – The following is a statement from Candy Marshall, president of TheDream.US:

“This is a jubilant time for many Americans – including DREAMers. The election results deliver hope that DREAMers can plan their futures with certainty.

While our electorate remains politically divided on many fronts, there is a remarkable consensus across the majority of both parties that we should provide DREAMers with the permanent protections they need to fully contribute to the country they call home.

President-elect Biden has committed to immediately reinstate the DACA program and to work with Congress to pass legislation providing DREAMers with a path to citizenship.

Congress needs to do the same. We need our Congressional leaders – Republicans and Democrats alike – to reach across the aisle and work together to pass this long needed legislation.

And, in the meantime, we will do our part in ensuring that DREAMers have the opportunity of a college education and access to careers that will let them put their resilience and determination to work in helping to rebuild our economy.”
