A reminder to apply for NY state aid

Dear New York Scholars,

Hope you are enjoying the last weeks of summer!

We require our Scholars to apply for NY state aid if you are eligible to do so. New York State aid includes a range of opportunities beyond the Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) and Excelsior Scholarship. For a full list of NYS grants, scholarships, and awards available click here. The more state aid our New York Scholars receive, the more scholarship funds there are for your peers in states with no state aid.

What this means for you and your scholarship:

If eligible, you will need to complete the NY State DREAM Act Application. This is a one-stop shop for all state aid applications. Good news! The application will look familiar as it is powered by ISTS. You can use your current ISTS account to apply for state aid. Attached is anapplication guide.

The aid is first come, first serve. The sooner you apply, the sooner you will receive a decision.

Once your application is submitted, reach out to your Financial or Scholar Advisor on-campus regarding next steps. Refer to the Scholar Partner College Directory to find who this person is at your Partner College: http://www.thedream.us/for-scholars/national/thedream-us-scholarship-tools/

The amount of your scholarship award from TheDream.US will be the difference between tuition and mandatory fees and the amount of state aid that you receive. You will also continue to receive a $1,000 stipend per year for books, supplies, and transportation.

Below are examples of how annual scholarship awards would be adjusted with state aid. Please note, your scholarship award and state aid are disbursed by semester, once enrollment is verified.
