DACA: Stay Informed and Prepared

Dear DACA Scholars and Graduates,

We hope you are doing well. We want to get straight to the point—there are growing challenges impacting DACA that we want you to be aware of and prepared for.

We are seeing more than just delays. In some cases, additional reviews are being added, and concerning patterns are emerging that could affect individuals differently depending on their circumstances i.e. the country they are from, if you have an old order of removal, etc. We know this uncertainty can be stressful, and we want to make sure you have the information and tools to navigate it.

We’ve been closely tracking these developments and created this resource on TheDream.US website with practical guidance if your DACA is delayed. However, we also know that information alone is not enough—many Dreamers are already experiencing work disruptions or uncertainty.

Because of this, we are taking three important steps:

  1. Launching “Dreams Delayed” (this Friday):

We are creating a free, secure platform where you can share your experience. This will help us understand what’s happening in real time across the country and strengthen our advocacy efforts. You will be able to create an account using your TheDream.US APP ID (this can be found in your ISTS Scholar Portal under “Program Summary”) and remain completely anonymous if you wish.

  2. National Information Session – May 20 DACA Webinar on “DACA Renewals: What you need to know”

We will host a virtual session to walk through what’s happening, answer your questions, and outline upcoming advocacy efforts for permanent protections. Look out for the registration link next week!

  3. DACA Renewal Grants (Apply Early):

If you are eligible, please take advantage of TheDream.US DACA Renewal Grants. We strongly encourage you to apply for the grant as early as possible—ideally around 200 days before your expiration. Everyone should aim to submit their renewal 150 days before expiration at the latest.

Please know this: you are not alone in this. We are here with you, and we are actively working to support and advocate for you every step of the way.

When you receive the “Dreams Delayed” link on Friday, we hope you will join as a member and add your voice. The more we show up together, the stronger we are.
