Dreamers Remain Undaunted and TheDream.US Undeterred in Advancing College, Career, and Broader Opportunities

Washington, DC – TheDream.US today offered a reminder that its newest scholarship aWashington, DC – As 2025 nears its close, TheDream.US is proud to reflect on the resiliency of our Scholars, Alumni, and the broader Dreamer population despite the barriers and uncertainties they face. And TheDream.US is proud to advance Dreamers’ evolving higher education and career needs, including through our open scholarship application round, and efforts that would secure Dreamers’ permanent opportunities and protections in this nation, such as The Dream Act.

Ahead of the Opportunity Scholarship application deadline on January 31, 2026 and the National Scholarship deadline on February 28, 2026, TheDream.US continues its mission to expand college and career pathways for undocumented students guided by the belief that talent knows no status. - TheDream.US calls for “urgent” passage of The Dream Act: In “DACA was once a lifeline for undocumented youth. It’s leaving the next generation behind,” the Los Angeles Times quotes TheDream.US President & CEO Gaby Pacheco and captures how the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program is mostly inaccessible to the younger cohort of Dreamers. Meanwhile, Dreamers across America are increasingly being targeted for detention and deportation and are facing rescinded opportunities in many states. In the face of these current realities and challenges, TheDream.US is calling for the “urgent” passage of The Dream Act.
As Pacheco said in reaction to the bipartisan introduction of the legislation in the U.S. Senate: “We’ve already seen what happens when America says ‘yes’ to Dreamers – they excel … The time for temporary measures is over. Instead of standing by idly as we see more Dreamers targeted, detained, and deported or kicking the can down the road and saying we’ll address their status ‘some other time,’ we need to act with urgency for Dreamers and the nation.”
