Gaby Pacheco of TheDream.US Reacts to Senate Parliamentarian’s Latest Ruling on Immigration

Washington, DC – The following is a statement from Gaby Pacheco, Director of Advocacy, Communications, and Development for TheDream.US reacting to the Senate parliamentarian’s latest ruling on immigration.

“Most TheDream.US Scholars and other immigrant youth are not experts in the details of Senate procedure and the role of the Senate parliamentarian. But they do know what’s at stake for their futures and their families and they do remember the promises that elected officials have made about finally delivering on immigration reform.

So it’s with a heavy heart that a year that started with so much promise seems again likely to end without delivering the immigration reform and citizenship that is so desperately needed and that is strongly backed by a bipartisan majority of Americans.

Every day on campuses and in workplaces across America, our TheDream.US Scholars and alumni and their fellow immigrants demonstrate why securing their futures in this country is good for all of us. It’s time Congress did something to recognize that reality and delivered long-promised, life-changing legislation. Until then, we stand with our Scholars and others in solidarity and commitment to keep speaking out on their behalf.”
