Washington, DC – The following is a statement from Gaby Pacheco, TheDream.US President and CEO, reacting to the news and implications of today’s U.S. Supreme Court ruling that allows the Trump administration to rescind TPS protections for Haitians and Syrians.

“Today’s Supreme Court ruling makes the need for a long overdue legislative solution even more urgent – for all Dreamers, including those with TPS, and the nation.
Since today’s ruling, I’ve been hearing from some of our affected TheDream.US Scholars and Alumni expressing fear, uncertainty, and worry about their futures in this country. Their ability to continue studying, succeeding, and contributing as nurses, caregivers, teachers, and other essential occupations is endangered. Yet we have a clear message for our affected Scholars and Alumni: our support and belief in you is steadfast.
We also have a clear message for policymakers. On top of the processing delays and legal challenges that have blocked access to the DACA program, today’s TPS ruling only ups the urgency for finally enacting a legislative solution like the Dream Act, so those who are deeply settled and already contributing to this nation can become American citizens.”
