Good news – NY state aid is now available to DREAMers
The New York State DREAM Act now provides state aid for NY DREAMers who meet eligibility requirements. New York State aid includes a range of opportunities beyond the Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) and Excelsior Scholarship. For a full list of NYS grants, scholarships, and awards available click here.
What this means for you and your scholarship:
- We will require you to apply for NY state aid. To do so, you will need to complete the NY State DREAM Act Application. This is a one-stop shop for all state aid applications. Good news! The application will look familiar as it is powered by ISTS. You can use your current ISTS account to apply for state aid. Attached is an application guide.
- While TAP has no submission deadline, there are deadlines for other grant, scholarship, and award opportunities. For more information on each program click here. The sooner you submit your application, the sooner you will receive a decision.
- The amount of your scholarship award from TheDream.US will be the difference between tuition and mandatory fees and the amount of state aid that you receive. You will also continue to receive a $1,000 stipend per year for books, supplies, and transporation.
Below are examples of how annual scholarship awards would be adjusted with state aid. Please note, your scholarship award and state aid are disbursed by semester, once enrollment is verified.
