As an undocumented student, an engineering degree felt impossible. I worked two minimum-wage jobs through community college. When I transferred for my bachelor’s, tuition rose—right as the national climate got tougher. Anxiety was constant; I worried I wouldn’t even finish.
Then a call changed everything: apply to TheDream.US.
The scholarship reduced my work hours, improved my grades and mental health, and let me graduate debt-free. I earned a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and started a good job in a lower-cost city.
Not a day goes by that I’m not grateful. Occasionally, I still log into the site and look at the dollar amount TheDream.US invested in me—and I think about paying it forward. That’s why I decided to become a monthly donor last year.
