In 3 Days, Don Graham and the CUNY Chancellor Welcomes You

Hello New CUNY Scholars,

There are only 3 days to go before we welcome you to TheDream.US family with an event that includes Don Graham, TheDream.US co-founder, and CUNY Chancellor Félix V. Matos Rodríguez, the first Latino leader for New York City’s public higher education system. Get to know them:

Don Graham

Don Graham is Chairman of the Graham Holdings Company. His family published The Washington Post from 1946 until 2013.

Don co-founded the District of Columbia College Access Program which has assisted over 23,000 DC students enroll in college and has provided scholarships totaling more than $33 million.

Upon learning of the plight of undocumented students with no access to college, Graham co-founded TheDream.US, a national scholarship fund for DREAMers, created to help undocumented immigrant youth get access to a college education.

Félix V. Matos Rodríguez

Dr. Matos Rodríguez is CUNY’s first Latino and minority chancellor.

He led Queens College since 2014 and before that was president of CUNY’s Eugenio María de Hostos Community College.

In addition, Matos Rodríguez is a scholar on the history of women in the Caribbean. In 2005, he worked for a year in Puerto Rico as head advisor on health and social welfare to the governor. The next year, he became secretary of the department of family services, holding the position for almost two years.

He will now be in charge of the sprawling system’s 11 senior colleges, seven community colleges and myriad graduate and professional schools. CUNY has more than 275,000 degree-seeking students.
