Active Minds Emerging Scholars Fellowship @ Active Minds

The Active Minds Emerging Scholars Fellowship provides an opportunity for Black, Indigenous, and/or person of color (BIPOC) undergraduate and graduate students ages 18-25 years old to complete funded, independent mental health projects and connect with a network of young scholars and national experts in the field of behavioral health. This fellowship aims to expand the body of literature, creative expression, and discourse devoted to mental health with an emphasis on health equity and antiracism related to young adult mental health.
Applicants should submit a unique and thought-provoking research proposal or creative project with a particular focus on equity across race, gender, and/or sexuality as it pertains to young adult mental health for the 2025 program cycle. The fellowship will last from January to June 2025. Fellows receive a $1,000 stipend, with the ability to receive an addition $250 in reimbursement for project material expenses. A valid SSN or ITIN is required to complete a Form W-9 and receive payment.
Note: All Fellows are required to travel out-of-state to attend an in-person Fellows Convening and share their research. Travel expenses are covered by Active Minds.

Eligibility Criteria:
-Identify as Black, Indigenous, and/or person of color (BIPOC) and have an interest in mental health through the lens of antiracism
-Must be a currently enrolled undergraduate or graduate student during the spring 2025 semester
-Between 18-25 years of age
-Open to all majors
-Must have a valid SSN or ITIN
Application Criteria includes:
-Title for your proposed project
-Project Description (150 words or less): What do you plan to investigate? How does your project specifically address health equity* and/or antiracism**?
*Health Equity: Everyone has a fair and just opportunity to be as healthy as possible. The goal of health equity is that everyone is able to live a healthy life and live to their full health potential (Braveman, 2017).
*Antiracism: The active process of identifying and eliminating racism by changing systems, organizational structures, policies and practices, and attitudes, so that power is redistributed and shared equitably (Kendi)
-Method and Results (500 words or less)
-Dissemination Strategy (250 words or less)
The dissemination plan is meant to involve your field, peers, faculty and greater campus community in conversations about mental health.
-Campus Oversight (150 words or less)
*Applicants are strongly encouraged to work with a local faculty member or other professional expert in addition to the remote mentor arranged through the Emerging Scholars Fellowship.

PATHWAYS Program @ Pre-Health Dreamers

PATHWAYS is a four-month virtual program designed to help undergraduate undocumented students who are passionate about pursuing careers in healthcare.
The program offers career exploration and focuses on various aspects such as professional development, academic enhancement, advocacy, establishing support networks, and introduction to entrepreneurship.
Accepted participants will have the opportunity to engage in online events with their peers to share resources, exchange knowledge, and receive support within a safe and inclusive environment. Moreover, the program aims to equip participants with the necessary skills to navigate the application process for their desired graduate or professional health programs in the future. Community building is core to the program, and participants are encouraged to participate in advocacy projects promoting access to healthcare and education for the undocumented community.
Eligibility Criteria:
-Must identify as undocumented, DACAmented or under TPS residing in the United States
-Must be a Freshman, Sophomore, or Junior attending a 4-year university or a community college
-Must be interested in pursuing a health profession degree in the future
-Must meet participation requirements, which include:
Attending ALL required virtual sessions via Zoom
Completing and submitting assignments and program surveys by deadline provided
Engaging with scholars, PHD staff, guest speakers, etc.
