National NALEO/Latino Decisions poll shows Biden with a strong lead over Trump

A new tracking poll conducted by Latino Decisions shows former Vice President Joe Biden maintaining a strong lead among Latino voters nationwide over President Trump, even as Trump gains ground among Florida Latinos.

The poll was conducted by Latino Decisions on behalf of the non-partisan National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials Educational Fund. Among the survey’s key findings:

  • 65 percent said they plan to vote for Biden as compared to 24 percent who plan to back Trump

  • 62 percent said they were more enthusiastic about voting in 2020 than they were in 2016

  • 78 percent said they were “almost certain” to vote in 2020

  • 60 percent held a favorable view of police reform initiatives and the Black Lives Matter movement

  • 55 percent said they prefer to vote by mail versus 45 percent who’d rather vote in person, but 29 percent said they are unfamiliar with how to vote by mail

  • 60 percent said they have not been contacted by either major political party or other organization about the upcoming election.

  • Among the 40 percent of voters who have been contacted about the election, 57 percent said they were reached by the Democrats and 47 percent were contacted by the Republicans
