On Day of Action, TheDream.US Calls on Congress to Deliver Bipartisan Legislative Solution for Dreamers
Washington, DC – TheDream.US is proud to be part of the seventh annual “I Stand With Immigrants Day of Action,” calling on Congress to protect DACA recipients and other Dreamers by passing bipartisan legislation this year.
According to Gaby Pacheco, Director of Advocacy, Communications, and Development of TheDream.US:
“TheDream.US stands with immigrants and with all Dreamers, with and without DACA, in calling for a bipartisan solution that provides a path to permanent legal status.
More than 3,000 former TheDream.US Scholars are now college graduates putting their degrees to work across America. Every day, they help show why expanding opportunities to immigrant youth strengthens the whole country.
While TheDream.US is proud to support Dreamers’ higher education and career aspirations and to open our tenth application round for college scholarships, we also know that we operate within a system that is crying out for further reform. For all of its successes, the DACA program was always meant to be temporary and a stepping stone for Congress to legislate a permanent solution.
We are now at that moment. America needs to replace Dreamers’ ongoing legal limbo and uncertainty with a permanent legislative fix that is broadly popular, good for our economy, and the right thing to do for both Dreamers and the future of our country.”
