Washington, DC – TheDream.US, the nation’s largest college and career access and success program for immigrant youth, today offered a reminder that its current scholarship application round is open to support the higher education dreams of more Dreamers with and without DACA or TPS. Applications are open to immigrant students who came to the U.S. before the age of 16 and before Nov. 1, 2019. All undocumented students who meet the eligibility criteria are welcome to apply.
The application deadline for the Opportunity Scholarship, for students who live in locked-out states where they cannot access or face limited in-state tuition eligibility, is January 31, 2025. The Opportunity Scholarship is a full-ride scholarship to one of five Opportunity Partner Colleges, providing up to $100,000 that covers the tuition, fees, housing, and food for its recipients for up to four years as they work to graduate with a bachelor’s degree. The five Opportunity Partner Colleges are: Christian Brothers University (Tennessee); Delaware State University (Delaware); Dominican University (Illinois); Eastern Connecticut State University (Connecticut); and Trinity Washington University (women’s college in Washington, DC). Full information on eligibility for the Opportunity Scholarship and how to apply is available HERE.
TheDream.US uses the following list of locked-out states to determine Opportunity Scholarship eligibility – a list of states with limited or inaccessible in-state tuition: Alabama; Alaska; Arkansas; Georgia; Idaho; Indiana; Iowa; Louisiana; Maine; Mississippi; Missouri; Montana; New Hampshire; North Carolina; North Dakota; Ohio; South Carolina; South Dakota; West Virginia; Wisconsin; and Wyoming.
Additionally, the National Scholarship is for Dreamers who are about to graduate high school or current university students to attend a TheDream.US Partner College in their state or online. More information about the National Scholarship and how to apply before its application deadline of February 28, 2025 HERE.
Gaby Pacheco, President and CEO of TheDream.US said “We are excited to open up our newest scholarship application round for driven Dreamers with and without DACA and TPS to pursue their higher education and career dreams. As more than 11,000 current and past Scholars can attest, education is its own kind of passport, opening doors to opportunities that can transform lives and communities. In this moment of uncertainty and anxiety for many Dreamers, we encourage eligible immigrant youth to apply before the upcoming application deadlines, knowing that we will remain steadfast in our support of undocumented youth and their futures.”
TheDream.US is the nation’s largest college success program for undocumented immigrant students, having provided more than 11,000 college scholarships to Dreamers attending over 80 Partner Colleges in 20 states and Washington, DC. We believe everyone, regardless of where they were born, should have equitable access to a college education, a meaningful career, and opportunities to contribute to the communities they call home.
