Organizations and Businesses – you’re invited to host current TheDream.US Scholars as paid interns – at no cost to you! This unique opportunity allows you to mentor a Scholar and receive needed support on projects and tasks. TheDream.US provides the funding for all approved internships.
What is the DreamBuilders Internship Program?
The DreamBuilders Internship Program offers paid internships to TheDream.US Scholars at host organizations and businesses nationwide, with all funding covered by TheDream.US (no cost to you)! This opportunity allows organizations to provide meaningful internship experiences, fostering mentorship and professional development while receiving needed support on projects and tasks.
How many interns can an Organization host?
Organizations are welcome to host as many Scholar interns as needed. There is no limit on the number of interns an organization can host. If an organization hosts multiple interns, each intern should receive the same stipend amount.
Internship Hours & Scholar Stipend Amounts
Each internship experience must require between 40-200 hours*. Total stipend amounts must be determined prior to the start of the experience and calculated $20 per estimated hour*. Additionally, Parker Dewey charges an administrative fee of roughly 10%. Both Scholar stipends and Parker Dewey administrative fees will be paid by TheDream.US. For example, this means that:
- A 200-hour internship project equates to: $4,000 stipend + $444.44 fee = $4,444.44 total
- A 150-hour internship project equates to: $3,000 stipend + $333.33 fee = $3,333.33 total
- A 100-hour internship project equates to: $2,000 stipend + $222.22 fee = $2,222.22 total
- Note: The maximum stipend amount a Scholar can receive is $4,000 per 1 internship.
Organizations can host TheDream.US Scholars as interns at no-cost while funding is available. Organizations are welcome to host multiple interns.
*Note: All internships through Parker Dewey are structured as independent contractors, so payment will be based on progressing through and completing the deliverables outlined in the internship posting. The hours mentioned are meant to gauge project duration and should not be interpreted as a form of timesheet tracking.
Organization Eligibility Requirements:
Organizations must meet the following criteria to host a Scholar Intern:
- Have dedicated time to provide a meaningful internship
- Will serve as the intern’s mentor and provide feedback and support
- Create and post an internship listing that is:
- No more than 200 hours in a remote or on-site setting (remote internships are encouraged as it allows for a larger candidate pool)
- Is educational in nature
- Project-based with defined deliverables
Organizations such as non-profits, community-based organizations, entrepreneurs, small business owners, and TheDream.US Alumni are welcome and encouraged to participate in this program through hosting a Scholar Intern! See details below on how to post an internship on Parker Dewey.
To Post an Internship:
Visit the DreamBuilders Internship Program website to review posting guidelines and post an internship opportunity. You can also find sample internship templates under the “Internship Templates” section. All internship postings must be posted on the Parker Dewey platform.
Internship postings can be posted at any time, so long as program funding is still available. Funding is on a first-come, first-served basis.
Please publish your internship start date at least 2-3 weeks out so there is enough time for TheDream.US to promote your opportunity to Scholars. Though not required, we strongly encourage you to post a remote internship to allow for a larger candidate pool.
Please note: Internships that require direct interaction with minors or other vulnerable populations are NOT eligible to be funded by this program.
