To our Partner Colleges,
After this turbulent election, we are left with one very clear message: our nation’s undocumented immigrant youth and their families need our support now more than ever.
We remain steadfast in our belief that nothing should stand in the way of a DREAMer in getting a college education— not the cost, immigration status, or the lack of financial aid.
We are equally steadfast in our belief that DREAMers are talented, highly motivated individuals who will be leaders in our nation’s pursuit of social and economic prosperity for all.
Toward that end, we want to assure you (and our Scholars) that:
- We will continue to fund our current Scholars – even if DACA is eliminated.
- We will move forward with our Scholarship round as planned and hope to award at least 1,000 Scholarships this Spring to DREAMers with DACA/TPS status. If DACA is eliminated before then, we will assess this with our grantors and legal counsel. (We know that this may impact DREAMers’ eligibility for in-state tuition in some of your colleges and we will take this into account.)
- We will continue to advocate for tuition and aid equity for DREAMers.
- We are here to help in any way we can.
We ask two things of you:
First, please reach out to your undocumented students and their families to help them feel welcomed, protected, and supported. We stand with them.
Second, help us ensure that every DREAMer in your community is aware of the opportunity of a college education through a scholarship from TheDream.US.
Let us know if you have questions or if we can provide any assistance.
We stand ready to serve.
