Washington, DC – TheDream.US, the nation’s largest college access and success program for immigrant youth, today announced the opening of its new Scholarship round for the 2022-2023 academic year. The organization also announced a goal to enroll 1,500 new National Scholars – a 50 percent increase in scholarships awarded compared to past Scholarship rounds.
To reach this ambitious goal, TheDream.US has updated its Scholarship eligibility criteria to allow more DREAMers to apply. Applications are open to immigrant youth with or without DACA or TPS who came to the U.S. before the age of 16 and before Nov. 1, 2016. We welcome all undocumented students who meet our eligibility criteria to apply.
TheDream.US partners with more than 70 Partner Colleges in 21 states and Washington, D.C. who are committed to supporting and graduating immigrant youth. This includes new Partner College relationships with University of Nevada, Las Vegas, Wingate University, Cabrini University, and Farmingdale University for the upcoming application round.
TheDream.US offers two types of scholarships depending on where the applicant lives:
- The National Scholarship is for first-time college students or community college graduates to attend a Partner College in their state. The National Scholarship is for tuition and fees up to $16,500 for an associate’s degree and $33,000 for a bachelor’s degree. Deadline for applications is February 28, 2022.
- The Opportunity Scholarship is for students who live in targeted, locked-out states where they cannot access in-state tuition. The Opportunity Scholarship provides up to $80,000 to cover tuition, fees, and on-campus housing and meals for a bachelor’s degree. Deadline for applications is January 31, 2022.
According to Gaby Pacheco, Director of Advocacy, Communications, and Development of TheDream.US: “We are proud to support highly motivated immigrant youth in their pursuit of higher education and a meaningful career. Through the stories and successes of our more than 2,100 TheDream.US college graduates and our currently enrolled Scholars, we have seen how providing opportunities to immigrant youth transforms lives and strengthens our shared country. DREAMers continue to persevere and succeed despite challenges of access and affordability and despite uncertainty about the future of DACA and a long overdue legislative solution. We want to thank our Partner Colleges across America for their dedication and support and for helping us support additional DREAMers’ college and career goals.”
