Washington, DC – TheDream.US, the nation’s largest college access and success program for undocumented immigrant youth, announced today that it is the recipient of the 2017 “Scholarship Provider of the Year” award issued by the National Scholarship Providers Association (NSPA).

“Scholarship Provider of the Year Award winners are chosen by a committee of their peers and exemplify innovative and effective scholarship practices that have positively impacted the ability of their scholars to access and be successful in higher education,” commented K.J. McCorry, Interim Executive Director of the NSPA. “NSPA members work to design their scholarship programs and student support services in strategic ways. This year’s winners have proven their programs to be exceptional at helping students achieve their educational goals.”

Candy Marshall, President of TheDream.US, shared: “We are honored to receive this award on behalf of the DREAMers we serve. It is a recognition that all young Americans – regardless of where they were born – should have the opportunity to of a college education and a chance to give back to the country that is – for all purposes – their home.”

One of TheDream.US Scholars, Aaron Sustaita, a student at the University of Houston majoring in political science confirmed the importance of these awards to DREAMers like himself: “After graduation, I plan to continue to volunteer and help undocumented students achieve success by mentoring them. I will remind them that there are many people and opportunities in our lives that will help us along our journey, TheDream.US being one of them.”

TheDream.US has supported over 3,000 DREAMers who are enrolled in or have graduated from over 75 Partner Colleges committed to their college success. These students’ persistence rates and academic achievements are remarkable. And their contributions to their colleges and the companies at which they work are helping to ensure the nation’s social and economic progress. The new round of TheDream.US scholarship applications open today (additional details here).

As stated by John C. Hitt, President of University of Central Florida: “In the United States there is no better tool than a college degree for improving social and economic mobility.
