TheDream.US Celebrates Newest Cohort of Nearly 1,400 Scholars to Support Higher Ed and Career Journeys

Washington, DC – TheDream.US, the nation’s largest scholarship and success program for immigrant youth, is proud to celebrate its newest cohort of TheDream.US Scholars. For the new 2024-2025 academic year, nearly 1,400 new TheDream.US Scholars will be attending one of more than 80 Partner Colleges across the country in 21 states and Washington, DC as either TheDream.US National Scholars (1,307) or Opportunity Scholars (87). Read through a detailed overview of the key data about the new class here and see below for key topline stats:
- The newest class of TheDream.US Scholars comes from approximately 70 different countries of origin but has spent most of their lives in the United States – the median age of their arrival in the United States is between 7 and 8 years old.
- Nearly three-fourths of the newest cohort are fully undocumented, lacking Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) or TPS. The decline in DACA status among recent cohorts of TheDream.US Scholars in recent years is largely due to ongoing legal challenges to the program that have barred new applicants from receiving DACA status.
- The new Scholar cohort represents 36 different U.S. states and Washington, DC and the vast majority – approximately 75% are the first in their family to attend college
- Overall, as TheDream.US celebrates its 10-year anniversary throughout this year, the organization has provided more than 10,000 scholarships to Dreamers and is proud to call more than 4,000 of its Alumni college graduates

As our recent Alumni survey with Golden Door Scholars and our ongoing body of research demonstrates, a college degree is an essential part of the upward social mobility of Dreamers and enhancing our broader national prosperity in the process. For example, our Scholars have graduated at consistently higher rates than their college peers and 63% of our Alumni are now out-earning their parents’ combined incomes. We are sure the individual Scholars who make up our newest class will join their fellow Scholars and Alumni in demonstrating why expanding opportunities for Dreamers is so beneficial to our nation and why we remain so committed to supporting these talented students’ access to a college degree and career pathways.”
