Washington, DC – TheDream.US, the nation’s largest college access and success program for immigrant youth, today offered a reminder that its Scholarship round for the 2022-2023 academic year is open for South Carolina immigrant students. Applications are open to immigrant students with or without DACA or TPS who came to the U.S. before the age of 16 and before Nov. 1, 2016. We welcome all undocumented students who meet our eligibility criteria to apply before the deadline on January 31st.
TheDream.US offers the Opportunity Scholarship to students who live in targeted, locked-out states where they cannot access in-state tuition, such as South Carolina. The Opportunity Scholarship provides up to $80,000 to cover tuition, fees, and on-campus housing and meals for a bachelor’s degree at one of five out-of-state colleges which are dedicated to supporting the higher education needs of DREAMers: Christian Brothers University in Tennessee; Delaware State University; Dominican University in suburban Chicago; Eastern Connecticut State University; and Trinity Washington University in Washington, DC. Deadline for applications is January 31, 2022. TheDream.US has awarded over 85 Opportunity Scholarships to students from South Carolina.
According to Gaby Pacheco, Director of Advocacy, Communications, and Development of TheDream.US: “We are proud to support highly motivated immigrant youth in South Carolina and across the country in their pursuit of higher education and a meaningful career. Through the stories and successes of our more than 2,100 TheDream.US college graduates and our currently enrolled Scholars, we have seen how providing opportunities to immigrant youth transforms lives and strengthens our shared country. We want to thank our Partner Colleges across America for their dedication and support and for helping us support additional DREAMers’ college and career goals.”
As one 2019 TheDream.US graduate recently told us, “I never thought I’d have a college degree or the means to even try to get one. TheDream.US opened many doors for me. It gave me the key (education) I needed to become the best version of myself and has helped shape who I am today. This program made me feel seen for the first time in my life.”
