Washington, DC – TheDream.US, the nation’s largest college access and success program for immigrant youth, today offered a reminder that its Scholarship round for the 2022-2023 academic year is open for New Jersey immigrant students. Applications are open to immigrant students with or without DACA or TPS who came to the U.S. before the age of 16 and before Nov. 1, 2016. We welcome all undocumented students who meet our eligibility criteria to apply before the deadlines at the end of January and February.

TheDream.US offers the National Scholarship to undocumented first-time college students or community college graduates living in New Jersey to attend the following Partner Colleges: Rowan University, Rutgers University Newark, and Rutgers University New Brunswick. These students will receive up to $37,000 for tuition, fees, books, and supplies for a bachelor’s degree. Deadline for applications to the National Scholarship is February 28, 2022. In total, TheDream.US has provided over 135 scholarships to students from New Jersey.

According to Ali A. Houshmand, president of Rowan University: “We have talented and ambitious young people here in New Jersey who are locked out from furthering their education and becoming active and contributing members of our state. This program breaks down some of the barriers for Dreamers, helping students financially and offering a pathway to success where no path existed before.”

According to Gaby Pacheco, Director of Advocacy, Communications, and Development of TheDream.US: “We are proud to support highly motivated immigrant youth in New Jersey and across the country in their pursuit of higher education and a meaningful career. Through the stories and successes of our more than 2,100 TheDream.US college graduates and our currently enrolled Scholars, we have seen how providing opportunities to immigrant youth transforms lives and strengthens our shared country. We want to thank our Partner Colleges in New Jersey and across America for their dedication and support and for helping us support additional DREAMers’ college and career goals.”

According to Yesenia, a TheDream.US Scholar and 2019 graduate of Rutgers University Newark: “I will eternally be grateful for TheDream.US scholarship. It allowed me to dream and accomplish things I never thought I could. DACA changed my life in 2012 and TheDream.US gave me the power to educate myself, dream bigger and trust that there is a brighter future for all. Now, I have a better economic standing, a job I love, and the confidence to stand up for myself and the things I believe in. I’m no longer in the shadows.”
