Washington, DC – TheDream.US, the nation’s largest college access and success program for immigrant youth, today offered a reminder that its Scholarship round for the 2022-2023 academic year is open for Utah immigrant students. Applications are open to immigrant students with or without DACA or TPS who came to the U.S. before the age of 16 and before Nov. 1, 2016. We welcome all undocumented students who meet our eligibility criteria to apply before the deadline at the end of February.
TheDream.US offers the National Scholarship to undocumented first-time college students or community college graduates living in Utah to attend the University of Utah, a partnership with TheDream.US that started last year. These students will receive up to $37,000 for tuition, fees, books, and supplies for a bachelor’s degree. Deadline for applications to the National Scholarship is February 28, 2022.
“We want to revolutionize the student experience at the University of Utah. To do that, we must provide increased opportunities to students with a diversity of lived experiences and backgrounds to join our community,” said Taylor Randall, president of the University of Utah. “We want to include DREAMer student voices into the conversations we are having to build a stronger and more vibrant Utah family. We encourage DREAMer students to apply for the TheDream.US scholarship and then apply to the U to pursue their academic dreams at one of the nation’s leading research universities.”
According to Gaby Pacheco, Director of Advocacy, Communications, and Development of TheDream.US: “We are proud to support highly motivated immigrant youth in Utah and across the country in their pursuit of higher education and a meaningful career. Through the stories and successes of our more than 2,100 TheDream.US college graduates and our currently enrolled Scholars, we have seen how providing opportunities to immigrant youth transforms lives and strengthens our shared country. We want to thank the University of Utah and our Partner Colleges across America for their dedication and support and for helping us support additional DREAMers’ college and career goals.”
As one 2020 TheDream.US graduate recently told us, “Thanks to TheDream.US I was able to attend college, graduate, and get a job in a high paying career field. I am now a Software Engineer working for one of the largest tech companies in the world and I am able to not only provide for myself and my wife, but I am able to take care of any financial troubles my parents endure. This was a truly life-changing award and I am forever grateful.”
