TheDream.US – Other Dreamers need YOU!

Dear Scholars,

When we wrote you this time last year, we were worried that the elections across the country would have a chilling effect on DREAMers’ determination to go to college. We opened our scholarship round one week later and – to our surprise –we received a record number of applications. YOU – our DREAMers are more than dreaming these days; you are doing!

We were inspired by DREAMers’ resilience and our commitment to provide you with the opportunity of a college education – so you are able to give back to your families, your communities, and your country – that is now stronger than ever.

On November 1, 2017, we will launch our 5th scholarship round and, once again, we are reaching out to you to help us get the word out.

Even though DACA was rescinded, we remain steadfast in our belief that being in college is an essential choice for DREAMers. Every version of a DREAM Act legislation has a college education requirement. By being in college now, DREAMers will be better-positioned when legislation passes in the future. And, while it may not be a legal reality, it is at least a perceived reality that college students hold a more “protected” status. Most importantly, their education will serve them no matter where they find themselves in the world.

I want to share with you exciting information about a college access and success program called TheDream.US. They are providing scholarships to highly-motivated DREAMers who have DACA, TPS, or would have met the DACA eligibility criteria. The scholarship application opens November 1st. More information can be found here: www.thedream.us.

TheDream.US is offering two scholarships:

The National Scholarship Program is for high school or community college graduates DACA, TPS, or who (1) have DACA, TPS, or would have met the DACA eligibility criteria; and (2) qualify for in-state tuition at one of our 75+ Partner Colleges. The Scholarship is for up to $14,500 for an associate’s degree and $29,000 for a bachelor’s degree.

The Opportunity Scholarship is for high school graduates who (1) have DACA, TPS, or would have met the DACA eligibility criteria; and (2) live in targeted, locked-out states that do not offer in-state tuition to DREAMers.  The Scholarship is for up to $80,000 to cover tuition, fees, and on-campus housing and meals for a bachelor’s degree.

Please get this information out to students who may be eligible for this incredible educational opportunity—you may just change someone’s life forever, just how yours has been changed.

Attached are two documents. The first is a more extensive social media tool kit and the second is our progress report. In many thanks to you, we’ve been able to create the nation’s largest college access and successful program for undocumented immigrant youth . . . and, as you will see in the report, our Scholars (YOU!) are rocking it!

Thank you in advance for your help!
