TheDream.US “Impact Report” and Open Application Round Highlight Importance of Opportunities for Undocumented Students

Washington, DC – TheDream.US, the nation’s largest college access and success program for immigrant youth, has released its 2021 Impact Report, highlighting key findings from the organization’s seven years and spotlighting stories and successes of some of the 6,500 TheDream.US Scholars, including 1,700 TheDream.US college graduates. The Impact Report demonstrates that in 70+ Partner Colleges in 19 states and Washington, DC, TheDream.US Scholars have exceeded national benchmarks for “just about every metric of academic success” and TheDream.US graduates are going on to impressive and impactful careers.
With deadlines approaching for the 2022-2023 TheDream.US application round, the Impact Report offers a reminder why the opportunity to become a TheDream.US Scholar and attend college can be so meaningful for students, their families, and our country.
As TheDream.US co-founders Don Graham, Carlos Gutierrez, and Henry Muñoz III write in the Impact Report, “We have more than 1,700 Graduates who are helping move our country forward. Applications are open to immigrant students with or without DACA or TPS who came to the U.S. before the age of 16 and before Nov. 1, 2016. We welcome all undocumented students who meet our eligibility criteria to apply and have a goal for this year’s scholarship round to enroll 1,500 new National Scholars – a 50 percent increase in scholarships awarded compared to past years. TheDream.US offers two types of scholarships depending on where the applicant lives:
- The National Scholarship is for first-time college students or community college graduates to attend a Partner College in their state. The National Scholarship is for tuition and fees up to $16,500 for an associate’s degree and $33,000 for a bachelor’s degree. Deadline for applications is February 28, 2022.
- The Opportunity Scholarship is for students who live in 20 targeted, locked-out states where they cannot access in-state tuition. The Opportunity Scholarship provides up to $80,000 to cover tuition, fees, and on-campus housing and meals for a bachelor’s degree. Deadline for applications is January 31, 2022.
