Dear College Teams,
We invite you to join two important Info Sessions this month!
- How DREAMers can Earn a living through Worker Co-ops – April 23, 11 am PDT
Last month, we held a webinar sharing various alternative career options for undocumented students regardless of their immigration status. This month, we are going deeper on each of those options, starting with Worker Cooperatives.
Democracy at Work Institute (DAWI) is spearheading The Rapid Response Cooperative (RRC) Development Program to create replicable, out-of-the-box worker-owned businesses that provide a pathway to work for DREAMers and others with employment barriers.
You will hear how DREAMers, immigrant rights groups, colleges, work development organizations and others can join to help DREAMers find income opportunities through Worker Co-Ops.
- COVID-19 Crisis and the Impact on Undocumented/DACA Students and Their Families: What Campus Leaders Need to Know – April 27, 11 am PDT
The COVID-19 crisis has further upended the lives of thousands of undocumented students, including DACA recipients, and their families. This briefing will feature immigration, legal, policy, and student support experts who will address the issues affecting this population, the applicability of COVID-19 legislation, the impact of government immigration-related actions in the wake of the crisis, and emergent student needs.
We will also feature the perspective of a college President and the practical, institutional, and advocacy steps that campuses can take to support these students.
