TheDream.US Vote Recommendation: “Provide a Roadmap to Citizenship for DREAMers.”
Washington, DC – Ahead of the Senate votes on immigration, TheDream.US released the following statement:
TheDream.US, the nation’s largest college access scholarship program for DREAMers, which represents over 3,000 college students and graduates, urges Senators to vote for the bipartisan immigration amendments that would provide a roadmap to citizenship for DREAMers. While these amendments contain provisions for border security and restrictions on family immigration that are troublesome, we recognize that in this time of significant uncertainty for DREAMers, it is incumbent on Congress to move this debate forward in a constructive manner. We will closely monitor the debate as it moves to the House and the conference committee. We do not take this position lightly. We take it on behalf of DREAMers whose education, careers, and safety remain in jeopardy.
TheDream.US, which has provided more than 3,000 scholarships to students with DACA and TPS at more than 75 partner colleges in 15 states and Washington, DC, believes that all young people, regardless of where they were born, should have the opportunity to fulfill their potential, gain an education, and fully participate in the country that they call home. To date, the organization has committed more than $103 million in scholarship money for DREAMers.
